Network Engineer - SD WAN and Routing
Full time on-site office based role in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, or Chennai office.
Work will support ether USA or EU time zones
The Network Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery, operations, and continual improvement of enterprise network services. This role manages a team of network engineers, administrators, and security experts, ensuring robust, secure, and high-performing network infrastructure across Cisco Viptela, SD-WAN, LAN, WAN, Routing & Switching and pharma domains. The manager drives operational excellence, client engagement, and cost optimization, while ensuring compliance with industry standards and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Viptela Design Authority: Serve as the design authority for the global Cisco Viptela SD-WAN fabric, including the architecture of vManage, vSmart, vBond, and vEdge/cEdge components across large-scale campus, branch, and data center environments.
Complex Policy Design: Architect and implement advanced service policies, data policies, and application-aware routing (AAR) to guarantee Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical business applications (e.g., VoIP, video conferencing, cloud SaaS).
Network Transformation: Lead the strategic planning and execution of migrating traditional MPLS/VPN environments to the SD-WAN fabric, ensuring zero-downtime cutovers and managing co-existence scenarios.
Cloud Integration: Design and implement robust SD-WAN integration with public cloud providers (AWS, Azure) using cloud on-ramps, virtual gateways, and optimizing connectivity to SaaS platforms (e.g., Office 365).
Viptela Components: Expert-level knowledge of the entire Viptela architecture, including OMP (Overlay Management Protocol), TLOCs, and IPsec tunneling.
Routing: Mastery of underlying routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and their interaction with the SD-WAN overlay.
Cloud Integration: Proven experience with cloud on-ramps and virtual Viptela deployments in AWS/Azure.
Automation: Proficiency in automation/scripting using vManage API, Python, and/or Ansible.
Security: Strong understanding of security controls in an SD-WAN context (Cloud Security/Umbrella, ZBFW).
Technical understanding of cloud networking and integration with SD-WAN (e.g. AWS, Azure).
Excellent knowledge of networking principles including TCP/IP, routing protocol (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), WAN/LAN architecture.
Ensure operational hygiene: proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation, and compliance with ITIL processes.
Oversee capacity planning, reporting, and disaster recovery for network infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience
Professional level English langue skills
15+ years in network delivery/operations, with hands-on experience in Cisco, AWS & Azure network, Riverbed and other enterprise network technologies.
Strong expertise in routing & switching (Cisco ACI, Cisco Wifi, Cisco Meraki, Cisco SDN, Cloud Networking, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, VLANs), VPNs, load balancers, and network security concepts.
Experience with network monitoring tools (Solarwinds, Zenoss), capacity planning, and reporting.
Proven track record in managing network incidents, troubleshooting, and escalation management.
Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, ITIL. Experience in managing delivery for regulated environments and compliance-driven industries.
