IT Support Engineer - Field based, Retail
Field based, covering 10 sites in London
As our field based Support Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations of all systems in retail stores with guidance and direction from SME when on site for smart hands.
This is a 12 month fixed term contract as an employee.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Setting up new POS equipment, ensuring proper integration, and performing routine maintenance to keep systems functioning optimally.
Diagnosing and resolving issues related to POS hardware and software, including malfunctions, connectivity problems, and system failures.
Applying software updates, installing new features, and ensuring compatibility with existing systems.
Providing technical assistance to store staff and customers, answering questions, and resolving issues related to retail store operations.
Managing and maintaining and updated stock or spare parts used as needed for repairs and maintenance.
Working with store management and IT teams to prioritize maintenance needs and ensure system efficiency.
Work with other support groups when on site as Smart Hands
Responsible for conducting health checks at assigned store locations.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
Strong understanding of POS hardware and software, including cash registers, scanners, printers, and credit card processing systems.
Ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently.
BUSINESS SKILLS:
Ability to interact with customers so as to ensure that the service is polite, efficient and responsive
Highly proactive solution driven approach
Interpersonal and with the ability to talk about technical items to support team and end user
Problem solving and root cause analysis
SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATION REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:
3-5 years experience in retail support environment
Strong Communication Skills
Strong working knowledge of MS Office and basic business application
Strong Customer Support Skills.
A+, MCP, MCSE or equivalent certification desired
Basic knowledge of networks, telecom, and server
Hands on knowledge of MacOS & iOS devices
